Undergraduate Students
ARANYA DHIBAR
As a student pursuing a BS-MS (research) dual degree from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, I have been fortunate to explore a diverse range of courses and research areas. My primary interests lie in Ecology, Evolution, and multi-omics. I am currently engaged in collecting and analyzing molecular data from the fascinating Indian flying lizard (Draco dussumieri) to uncover evolutionary insights. Alongside my academic pursuits, I have a passion for cinema and enjoy immersing myself in Bengali literature and audio stories.

SHARWARY M R
I am a final-year undergraduate doing my Bachelor’s thesis. I am investigating the drivers of population demography and population genetic structure of Himalayan Langurs across rivers in the Indian Himalayas using microsatellites. Himalayan Langurs are colobine primates with a wide range of altitudinal distribution across the Indian Himalayas. Present-day geographical barriers such as rivers play a significant role in shaping the demographic history. Himalayan langurs are good model organisms to understand the effect of heterogeneous landscapes on mammals’ current genetic structure across the Himalayas. This can also have implications for conservation planning and management of this species. When I am not in lab, I play snooker, carrom, chess, practice K-pop dance moves. I enjoy watching anime, wildlife, lifestyle documentaries.
Research interests: Ecology, Evolution, Conservation Science, Science Communication
